| I love gears of war it rocks! I really think it is cool that it has an extreme content filter and I really hope the second one Gears of War 2 has the same thing, that way the consumer can choose how brutal he wants the game. Awesome job on the game and I really can't wait to get deeper into the story of Gears of war!!!!! |
A very slim minority of people use the filter, but it's still a nifty tool to have. I have actually used it seriously myself a couple times, since I'm not a completely evil bastard, and at times I would have a little cousin or whatnot over and I don't want to get the kid traumatized or the parent pissed.
Also, it's sometimes just fun to get a headshot and, rather than an exploded head, a
rigor mortis body, and nifty ragdoll physics, you instead see their head bow a tiny bit, their body freeze in place for a moment, and crumple to the floor. This prompted me to name the sniper rifle "the narcolepsy gun" with EC off.
In any case, I'm a fan of big video game violence. What would be really cool is if the game had a reverse switch, so to speak, giving it extreme, over-the-top, bloodbath violence breaching the thin line the game already trod into rediculosity. I'm not suggesting this as a "WAH, WAH, WAH, VIOLENCE VIOLENCE VIOLENCE BLOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD I AM A FUCKING MANIAC" kind of thing; when I think of something like this, I'd have to look at it as being a kind of easter egg-type thing. I mean, come on. Sometimes when it's over the top it's just funny. The violence is already borderline psychotic, and CliffyB did say that there would be more violence in the sequel (look for the IGN interview he said it in yourself, I'm lazy), and perhaps this is his ticket.
